Role Overview

As an LLM Engineer / AI Researcher, you'll design, train, and deploy large language models for tax and accounting automation using OLLAMA. You'll work on cutting-edge research in domain-specific LLMs, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and model optimization. This role offers the unique opportunity to build a FinTech LLM from scratch with global deployment potential.

Responsibilities

Design and train domain-specific LLMs for tax preparation and accounting using OLLAMA
Fine-tune open-source models (Llama 3, Mistral, CodeLlama) on tax and accounting datasets
Develop prompt engineering strategies for tax form completion and calculations
Build RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems for IRS tax code and regulations
Optimize model performance (latency, accuracy, cost) for production deployment
Research and implement state-of-the-art LLM techniques (LoRA, QLoRA, RLHF)
Create evaluation frameworks for tax-specific LLM accuracy and compliance
Collaborate with tax experts to ensure model outputs meet IRS requirements
Deploy models to production using OLLAMA, Docker, Kubernetes
Monitor model performance and implement continuous improvement pipelines
Publish research papers and contribute to open-source LLM community
Mentor junior AI engineers and data scientists

Required Skills

5+ years experience in machine learning, NLP, or AI research
Strong expertise in LLMs (GPT, Llama, Mistral, Claude, Gemini)
Hands-on experience with OLLAMA, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain
Proficiency in Python (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX)
Experience fine-tuning LLMs on custom datasets
Deep understanding of transformer architecture and attention mechanisms
Experience with prompt engineering and few-shot learning
Knowledge of RAG systems and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB)
Strong mathematical foundation (linear algebra, probability, optimization)
Experience with distributed training (DeepSpeed, FSDP, Megatron)
Excellent research and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills (ability to explain complex AI concepts)

Preferred Skills

PhD or Master's in Computer Science, AI, or related field
Published research papers in top AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP)
Experience with domain-specific LLMs (FinTech, Legal, Medical)
Knowledge of tax preparation or accounting industry
Experience with model quantization and compression (GPTQ, AWQ, GGUF)
Contributions to open-source LLM projects (OLLAMA, Hugging Face, LangChain)
Experience with MLOps and model deployment (MLflow, Weights & Biases)
Knowledge of reinforcement learning and RLHF
Experience with multimodal models (vision + language)

Qualifications

Education: Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field (Bachelor's with exceptional experience considered)
Experience: 5+ years in AI/ML research or LLM engineering
Portfolio: GitHub profile with LLM projects, research papers, or open-source contributions
Language: Fluent English (technical writing and presentation)
